Thank you all for a wonderful day of tennis to ring in spring and the first tournament for MVTC for 2016.  The weather was great, the food was fantastic due to the efforts of Jill Nagahara-Evans and her team and, judging by the photos, all of you had fun. Thanks to Jenna Sandoval, Madan, and others for taking the pictures to capture the day. Thanks to Carol Tolen for the wonderful prizes and manning the desk throughout.  Thanks to Kathy Nichols for web postings and signup sheet and to Guillaume Cottarel for all the mass mailings. Thanks to the Captains for taking the lead and to everyone for playing.

We picked March Madness team names and assigned colors to each team as follows: Jayhawks (white) captained by Jim Evans, Bears (blue) captained by Jim Hayes, Wildcats (black) captained by Liz Chambers, Huskies (red) captained by Roy Molseed. The winners were the Bears with 83 points, followed by the Huskies with 77, Jayhawks with 71, and Wildcats with 57. In an interesting sidenote, life reversed art (sport? tennis?), as the Wildcats actually won an upset win at the buzzer in the NCAA March Madness Final. What a game!

Back to Rengstorff Park. Food was the highlight as we had deviled eggs to go with the croissants, rolls, fruit, coffee, juice, etc. throughout the morning, and for lunch we had a hearty pasta dish, a great kale salad, other salads and side dishes, and to top it all off, homemade brownies. Thanks again to Jill, Jim, Jean-Luc, Izumi, Zen, and everyone who brought the food. It was fantastic.

Thanks to all of you who wrote to say you enjoyed the tournament.  As I mentioned at the event, this is a volunteer run club and all of you make the Club great.  I would encourage all of you to sign up to run your own events, join the Board or volunteer to assist with the tournaments or the 50th anniversary celebrations this year.  For those of you who are new to the Club, welcome !  Let us know how we can help you.  You will find the email addresses for all the board members on mvtc.net.
