President’s Message
We’re all happy that we won’t have a drought this summer due to the good rains this winter. Now it’s time to join your tennis friends for some sunshine and good times out on the courts. We have a lot of great events planned for MVTC members this spring.
If you haven’t yet renewed, please take advantage of the March Madness Membership promotion. We have a special promotion going on to entice tennis players of all ages 18 and older to join the Mountain View Tennis Club. For the month of March only, Mountain View residents can join for $25.00 and Non-Residents can join for $35.00. This is a reduced price for everyone. In addition, any member who joins in March will also receive a $5.00 voucher that can be used for one tournament in the 2019 season. Join, tell your friends and take advantage of all the tennis fun in 2019.
The tennis tournament season kicks off with the popular Team Tennis Tournament on Saturday, March 16th from 8:30 – 1:00pm at Rengstorff Park. This tournament is near St. Patrick’s Day, so if you wear something green, you’ll get a surprise. All levels are encouraged to participate and breakfast and lunch will be provided. This is always a lively and social tournament. May the luck of the Irish be with you!
Drop-In Tennis is back! Come join us at the Rengstorff Courts on Friday, March 29th from 7:00 – 9:00pm, (courts 1 and 2).
The 18+ Adult USTA tennis leagues are opening up for sign-ups. If you are thinking of having a team, please reach out to Jim Evans at usta@mvtc.net. Also, a huge THANK YOU to Jim for all of his great work in getting USTA matches rescheduled during our very rainy season this winter. We all definitely appreciate the effort.
Bill Martin is looking for a couple of new coaches to help out with the Junior Team Tennis program. If you are interested in being a coach or assistant coach for this great program, please reach out to Bill at jrteamtennis@mvtc.net
Our Spring General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 24th from 6:00 – 9:00pm, at the Senior Center in Mountain View (266 Escuela Avenue, Mountain View, CA, 94040). Let’s all get together and enjoy food and fellowship with your tennis pals. There will be a food drive at this event, please bring non-perishable food to donate and we’ll get it to the Community Services Agency.
Lastly, we’ll be taking part in the Mountain View Parade on Saturday, April 27th from 10:00 – 1:00pm on Castro Street in Mountain View. This year’s theme is “Cruisin’ Mountain View”. If you are interested in participating, drop me an email at president@mvtc.net. If anyone has a vintage car that you want to show off, please let me know.

2018 Grand Prix Winners

Membership
Our March Madness membership drive is about to start. Terrie's letter in this Court Report explains the details, including one additional enticement this year to renewing in the month of March.
We'd also like to ask you, our current members, to think about other tennis friends to invite to join our tennis club. Think about possible friends to invite when you're driving, standing in line at the grocery store or any time you have a moment to yourself. Then share with that friend(s) all the things you have enjoyed about MVTC - could be making new friends and playing partners, monthly tournaments, social tennis, watching televised and live matches together, speakers at the General Meetings, etc. Membership in MVTC is the best deal in town and a strong, active membership makes our Club even better!
