Giant Tennis Racket and Ball delight kids at MV Family Parade
An MVTC contingent led by Jeremy Chen walked in this year's MV Family Parade, this past weekend. The group included current MVTC President Madan, MVTC Secretary Jo-Ann, past president George Koo, long time MVTC member Noah Banks, new social chair Myrna, tournament chair Jeremy and his partner Douglas and nephew, Gary Buzzell who has been an active participant at many club events, and one of the newest members Mallika. The USTA Santa Clara representative, Chris Samuel, kindly loaned us a giant Racket and Ball to enliven the parade.
April Interclub Tournament Summary
It was a beautiful April day when our friends from San Carlos Tennis Club paid us a visit at Rengstorff Park bringing many excellent tennis players and wrestling the Squirrel from our hands with a good game.
It was a tight match from beginning to end with ups and downs and a slight 2-game advantage for MVTC after the first 5 rounds only to finish in a resounding victory for SCTC in the final round.
Mountain View City Spring Family Parade
As an community organization sponsored by the city Mountain View, MVTC has decided to participate in this year's Mountain View City Spring Family Parade to be held on Sat April 25th. The parade will begin at noon on Castro Street at Villa Street and continue all the way into Pioneer Park for crafts, games, music and fun.
March 2015 Team Tennis Summary
A beautiful Spring day served as the perfect setting for the first tournament of the year for MVTC. The March Team Tennis had 49 players split into four teams – Red, White, Blue and Black, captained by Roy Molseed, Liz Chambers, Perry Lim and Larry Drenan. Team members wore their team colors and had a fun day of mens, womens and mixed doubles. The format gave opportunity for everyone to play with many partners against many other teams. It also gave those who sat out the opportunity to watch some good tennis and make new friends and renew old friendships.
2015 Spring General Meeting Summary
Thanks to all of the MVTC members for making our 2015 Spring meeting an overwhelming success. I would especially like to thank our President Madan for the long hours he has invested into revitalizing this club. He has had a very tenuous year of negotiating a new contract with the city, dealing with the touchy subject of junior team tennis insurance, refiling tax exempt status with the federal and state governments, sending out countless emails keeping board members informed and helping organize and participate in our tournaments and keeping a smile the whole time.
2015 Spring General Meeting
Our 2015 Spring General Meeting is planned for the evening of Wednesday, March 25th.
Registration and drinks will start at 6:00 pm with dinner being served at 6:30.
The event is free for all paid 2015 members, and guests are invited to join us for $25 per person. Those who also wish to join the club can do so at the meeting, $30 for Mountain View residents and $40 for non-residents.
